2012-07-30 : So I wanted to set up a music player in the kitchen that I could control with my iPhone. I have a spare Eee-pc with Windows XP on it. While I could write a Java app I was wondering if there was anything faster. (I could also rebuild the box to run Linux but I'd still have to find and configure a music app.) I found BrowseAmp which works as a plug-in to WinAmp. It gives you lots of control over the player, and allows you to write your own HTML interface template.
None of the predefined templates were designed for the iPhone, so I created my own based off the "kalas" skin. It works great.
