Today when I got up, Michelle was already up. She had insomnia and decided at 2am to stop laying in bed and get some work done since she was awake. During that time, she had a breakthrough in figuring out how to do the analysis for her research.
We went to Bread Co for our favorite breakfast. While at breakfast, we worked on a packing list for our trip.
We went to the Botanical Gardens to do an early morning walk before it got too hot. It was great. The day lilies were in full bloom. We wandered back and saw a bunch of places in the gardens we'd never been to before, including the maze, the Garden Club gardens, The George Washington Carver garden, and the Home garden. The Japanese garden was amazing because the lotus was in bloom. These water lilies were huge! We saw lots of people out with their cameras. :)
We returned home and got ready for the day's activity: preparing for next weekend's party. We took old suby over to storage to get a few things - duffle bags, empty boxes, and more camping equipment. We went by Target to get camping suplies and a frisby and ball to toss around at the party. Then we continued on to Michelle's Mom's house.
The living room (in the front of the house) was mostly done with construction, so we moved all the excess furniture from the appendix and the family room (in the back of the house) back to the living room. We did a lot of cleaning in the family room, the breakfast area, and the kitchen, and moved up and cleaned some chairs from the basement. We did a lot of work, and the house is now ready for an influx of people. (I also made another platform in the basement and carried the white wire shelf and the camping box that we had picked up down to the basement.) During the cleanup work, we took a break for lunch and got bagels at Panera. We brought them back and had bagels, cream cheese, and Rainier cherries for lunch.
When we were done, the rearranged the cars. Old Suby is now going to live at Michelle's Mom's house and Michelle will have her Bimmer at our appartment. Next, we went to Sam's Club to get party supplies. We got a lot of wine, beer, Coke, and water. We also bought plates, napkins, cups, and (interestingly) pitchers. It's amazing what you can get at Sam's Club. We did very well. The only things that jumped into the basket were a bottle of ice wine for Michelle, and a tub of hummus for me. (I managed to pass up the 72 oz. bag of chocolate chips.)
After Sam's Club, we went to Walmart for a few more things (wine glasses, wasp spray, etc.). I also grabbed a pair of good loping shears, since Michelle's Mom didn't have anything like that and has been trying to cut sticks with hedge clippers.
Next everyone agreed it was time for dinner, so we went to Sweet Tomatoes for dinner. Yum!
We went back to Michelle's Mom's house and unloaded our purchases, then I drove Michelle home and put her to bed. I stayed up later, posting pictures to the photo album.
