After breakfast this morning, I did a two lap walk. After I cleaned up, I had lunch. Then I worked on home finances, updating the checkbook and moving move between accounts.

At 1:30, Michelle and I went to meet with a Northwestern Mutual advisor. Initially, the meeting was for discussing updating Michelle's disability insurance. However, the advisor agreed with Michelle's research that Guardian was a better choice than Northwestern Mutual in her case, and while he could help her with a Guardian policy, a Guardian agent had already put in a lot of effort on Michelle's behalf and had earned the sale. Instead, we spent quite a bit of time with him so he could become familiar with our situation and go over our current financial plan. We liked him, so we'll probably stick with him. He seemed more willing to listen and less paternalistic than our last advisor. We've got a follow-up appointment scheduled already.

After that, we came home and had salad and leftovers for dinner. Then I headed off for the Saint Louis Java User Group meeting. There were food and give-aways provided by some recruiting firms, which was nice. I tlaked to people a bit before the meeting, then they had the "thank you to our sponsors" and the give-aways (pretty nice stuff - cash gift cards, an Idea License, and polo shirts), then a call for questions. Next, the presenter spoke about Seam, which is an application framework / stack. It actually seemed very cool. It had support for conversations (basically, their web app support multiple tabs in a single session), a smarter persistence flushing paradigm, lots of declarative style programming with annotations, and more. I liked this group a bit better because I was more familiar with the things people were talking about, and it finished sooner. :)

I came home and worked on paperwork a bit more while Michelle watched The Baby Borrowers, a new reality TV show she had just found and really gotten in to. Then we went to bed.
