Today we had toast with gooseberry jelly (from Gooseberry Falls, MN) for breakfast.

Mom and I did a walk through forest park, around the science center then over Forest Park Avenue by the pedestrian bridge. (This route was the same distance as yesterday, 3.25 miles.) We stopped at Starbucks on the way back for iced coffee for Mom and a lite mocha frappaccino for me. We discussed dinner plans and travel plans.

We returned home, and checked out routes to Glacier. We decided to go through Seattle on our way to Glacier, visiting on the 24th so I could see Lance in The Mikado. We also played around with Google Earth, refreshing our memories of previous trips and hikes in Glacier.

We made sandwiches for lunch, and then went the ghetto Schnucks to get ingredients for tuna noodle casserole. (Mom got to see why we gave it such a gauche moniker.)

We decided to go to the butterfly house. It was a lot of fun. There were tons of butterflies, all fliting around, begging to have their pictures taken. We were lucky enough to be there when they released new butterflies as well. The keeper came out with three plastic shoeboxes with chrysalises on the lids and released the few butterflies in each that had metamorphosed. He then opened up the large glass display case and released the butterflied in there as well. We even got to see the giant Atlas Moth close up.

On the way home, we fought our way through stop-and-go traffic along 40, but once we got to 270, everyone headed north while we headed south and it was smooth sailing from there home.

When we got home, I made the tuna noodle casserole. The broccoli that I had planned to put in it had spoiled, so we improvised with some frozen corn-peas-and-carrots and frozen pearl onions. When Michelle came home, it was just perfect timimg for dinner.

After dinner, we made another shopping list, then went to Straubs to get groceries for our Fourth of July party.

Michelle had bought a package of Barefoot Contessa brownie mix, so Mom and I made that. I managed to make a complete mess of melting the chocolate in an improvised double boiler, but Mom recovered it and I think the brownies are going to turn out just fine. I think we should just get the simple mix kind next time, though I may have to get this brand again just to prove I can do it.
