Well, you are reading this, so the hard drive swap was successful!

Actually, the only hard part was figuring out which drive (of the two identical ones) was the one that had gone bad. Luckily, it turned out to be the secondary one. I swapped it out and brought the new drive in sync, et viola! Life is good again.
